There are quite a number of workers within the European labour market who possess no official qualifications from formal institutions, yet have acquired knowledge, skills and competences as a result of informal and non-formal learning, often through work experience. However being competent yet unqualified, these people run the risk of being excluded from the workforce due to lack of formal recognition and also limit themselves from progressing within the European Qualifications Framework, as part of a lifelong learning process.
The INLearning project aims to promote social inclusion through developing a methodology framework for the validation of informal and non-formal learning, through a portfolio pen drive ‘Lifepass’, which will be applicable across different sectors and may be utilized across Europe. The methodological tool will be tried and tested in a number of jobs in different sectors that will be considered in this project, namely, printing, agribusiness, construction, hospitality, transport, security, and childcare. Indeed, this general methodological tool is to be tried and tested in a number of jobs in the sectors mentioned above. The aim of introducing this tool is to reduce inequalities and promote social inclusion among those who do not possess any formal qualifications within National and European Qualifications Frameworks.

The main objective of this project is for the Lifepass (Learning through informal education) portfolio pendrive to be taken up and used across Europe as in the case of the Europass.
The methodological framework tool, apart from helping individuals to demonstrate the richness of their learning and competences, will help achieve coherence across European countries and facilitate recognition of the validation process.
The Consortium for this project is made up of partners involved directly or indirectly in the validation of informal and non-formal learning.
